Mudanzas Castillo Trophy

Twenty-four cruise yachts were gathered at the Real Club Náutico  Torrevieja to compete in the Trofeo III “Mudanzas Castillo” which was held as scheduled on July 9th  in the bay of Torrevieja. Under the support  of  “Mudanzas Castillo” and with the collaboration of KRAFT FOODS and ESTRELLA LEVANTE .
The sports day began with a presentation of the summer racing calendar, an event that was attended by a Member of the CN Campoamor Vela, Joseph A. Thomas, a  Member of Vela, Jorge Girona, and the manager of the CN Tower La Horadada, and President and member of the RCN Torrevieja, Germain Soler and Carlos Carmona.
The Mudanzas Castillo Trophy race program opens to cruise the summer, by three participating clubs: Real Club Náutico Torrevieja, Campoamor and Club Náutico Club Torre de la Horadada.
After the presentation a welcome breakfast was served and gifts were given to the participants, all provided by the sponsors of the race, KRAFT FOODS.
The boats left for the water and were slowly congregating along the line. The wind of only four knots caused a delay of 12 hours in the scheduled departure, but against all odds, the wind suddenly rose and fired a storm with strong gusts of wind and rain that allowed the time to recuperate and the boats put towards upwind to the beacon located in Cabo Cervera to cover the first leg of the course schedule. Beyond the mark, the wind dropped again and from that time it was unstable, shifty and ups and downs of constant intensity. Still, the race was pretty fast and good fun.
After the test, KRAFT FOODS offered spectacular snacks to the crews.
If the first part of the day was fun, the second part was at least as good, when on the terrace of the RCNT the trophy was presented and a dinner hosted by the sponsor, Mudanzas Castillo was served by the restaurant La Bodega Real Club Náutico of Torrevieja.
There were trophies for the top three finishers in each class and a nice prize was awarded to the BOAT LAST IN LINE LINE OF ARRIVAL, as the “crew enjoying the race the longest”
The party lasted until well into the night, participants enjoying good music, and  lively conversation in the Chill Out of RCN Torrevieja.
