Fernando Clemente, president of the Spanish Federation of Rowing, defined it as a “magnificent spectacle” and the “best ever”.
Real Club de Regatas de Alicante, best team in the championship with five golds and the RCN of Torrevieja, one gold and two bronze.
This weekend the bay of Torrevieja has become the perfect setting for the realization of the eighth edition of the Cup of Spain Llaut Rowing Mediterranean, organized by the Spanish Federation of Rowing, Rowing Federation of Valencia, Rowing Club Torrevieja and the collaboration of the Torrevieja Town Hall and Marina de Salinas.
With an impeccable organization by the Rowing Club Torrevieja and the great weather this luxury sporting event in rowing has been a pleasure to observe. A very good atmosphere among the public on the dam, encouraging their own with songs, banners, and of course, to the rhythm of drums inviting all athletes coming from different part of Spain to paddle harder and endure the hard pace. From there, veterans of the Royal Yacht Club have wowed everyone present after achieving an insurmountable time and therefore became champions of Spain. Behind them, two joys in this tournament: one from the hands of the male cadets who reached a bronze medal and one male youth team obtaining a third place. The team of female veterans has fought hard but had to settle for second place in the final B. Congratulations to all and well deserved rest, they have all gone through long weeks of hard and long workouts. (Story: Caselles Nati Perez. Images courtesy of Fernando Guardiola.)
