For one whole week, the Match Racing Olympic teams, formed by Ascension Rock Togores, member of the Real Club Nautico Torrevieja, Elisabeth Llargués, of the Masnou Yacht Club have been training at the Real Club Nautico Torrevieja, under coach Jordi Lamarca, .
The team is carrying out the final phase of intensive training, held this past month in Barcelona and Torrevieja, to prepare their participation in the Spain’s Match Racing Championships, which are starting the 8^th of March, in the Galician Sailing Centre of Arousa.
During the first few weeks this training was carried out in Barcelona, on Elliots, on loan from the Russian Olympic Team. The week, prior to the championship, the trainings took place in our waters, sailing on Laser SB3’s of the Real Club Nautico Torrevieja – their progress being watched every day from the harbour or the beach front..
Match Racing means boat against boat, is very spectacular and done in the America’s Cup format.
Ascension Roca, member of the Europe Class World Champion Team, and Eli Llarga, Europe Class World Champion, are serious candidates in this Olympic discipline in the fight for the Spanish championship in Villagarcía.
This also determines their presence in future competitions and their match racing progression towards the pre-Olympic team.
During these sessions they have been  trained by Jordi Lamarca, coach and Match Racing specialist who has also developed Olympic Team, America’s Cup, and the  Iberdrola Team regulations, hoarding a wealth of experience in this type of competition.
To complete the crews Valencian Trullente Alba, and Club sailors, Javi Rojas and Mari Carmen Fernandez were added to the team. Kike Mena and José Antonio Anton, the Sports Director of the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja supplied technical  assistance.
The Club intends to repeat this kind of high level training with SB3 boats. These activities will help  to develop characteristics and identity and will promote this type of spectacular and educational competition.
