Spectacular comeback in Optimist B for Alba Garcia
With more than 100 sailors on the race course, in the Optimist B it was hard work to ensure your score over the weekend. Carles Albelda, the RCN Calpe, opened the scoring in the first lap. The Alicantese Pablo de Bejar, who had lost in the first, took his revenge and marked a first place in the second. Tremendously competitive at sea, sailors took unspeakable risks and early exits were paid for very expensively. But Sunday was for the great competitor Alba Garcia of the RCN Torrevieja. After adding a 2nd and 12th on Saturday, on Sunday he made a dramatic comeback and achieved the two laps in a day. The series allowed to discard their worst off 12 points and he was proclaimed champion of the Benidorm Trophy with 4 points on the board, 5 ahead of Carles Albelda, RCN of Calpe, who scored 9 points. Very competitive was a tie for third with 15 points. Luis Aroca, Javea CN up to the podium, being Paula Lissorge’s (of CN Campello) best split, who had to settle for fourth place. Fifth Arturo Beltran of RCR Alicante, with 19 points.
